We pierce using the exclusive Inverness Piercing system.

The Inverness Piercing system is the most technologically-advanced ear piercing system that is 28 times more gentle on the ears that other systems. The medically-hygienic system is hand pressured to ensure an accurate, quiet and smooth piercing process.

All of the piercing earrings are hypoallergenic and made with ultra-thin posts and a surgically-honed tip for the gentlest piercing possible. Inverness piercing earrings are packaged in sterile, tamper-resistant cartridges. Each individual earring & exclusive Inverness Safety Back™ are fully-enclosed in our sterile earring capsules to guard against exposure to potential contaminants prior to piercing.

The posts of the earrings are .030” in diameter which is between 20 and 21 gauge.

The Inverness medical grade titanium earrings are 100% nickel-free, providing maximum peace of mind for people with known nickel allergies.

At Strange the Jewellers, ear piercing is available to anyone over the age of 10. Anyone under the age of 16 will need to bring a parent or guardian to consent to the piercing.

We also offer ear piercing to children above the age of 3, however we ask for the parents to bring the child in store for a consultation beforehand. This allows the child to see the piercing salon and for the piercing consultant to asses whether they understand the piercing process properly.

Nose piercing is only available to those over the age of 16.

The price of our piercings depend on the earrings that you choose. The prices include the piercing of both ears, the earrings, a starter-sized bottle of aftercare solution and a 6 or 12 week check-up.

No, we do accept walk in appointments. You can come into store any time and get your ears pierced, however we do prioritise booked appointments

The average healing time is 6 weeks for an earlobe piercing and 12 weeks for a cartilage piercing. We recommend leaving your piercing earrings in and following your aftercare instructions for the entire healing period. Yes. Due to the design of the piercing instrument and piercing earrings, cartilage ear piercing with the Inverness System is just as gentle as a lobe piercing.

Cartilage is the strong, flexible tissue located in the upper portion of the ear. Cartilage differs from the earlobe primarily in that it has a limited blood supply. The diagram below shows where it is safe to use the Inverness System to pierce outer ear cartilage and the earlobe.

The Inverness System has two unique features designed to ensure the safest ear-piercing experience possible.

· Inverness is the only ear-piercing system with fully enclosed earring capsules that prevent the piercing earrings and exclusive Safety Back™ from being exposed to potential contaminants prior to piercing. The earring capsules are sealed in sterilised cartridges that are not opened until selected for piercing. Unlike other systems on the market, the earrings are not exposed until they are safely inserted in the ear.

· The exclusive Safety Back™ allows for the safest healing possible by shielding the piercing tip and preventing the earring back from being squeezed too tight. This allows for proper airflow and prevents the earring back from becoming embedded during the healing process.

Yes and No.

If you have been pierced by us using any of our gold earrings (9ct yellow or white gold, 18ct yellow or white gold, or 14ct gold), then we can file the piercing points off your earrings after your healing date has passed. You can then opt to purchase a set of butterflies or continue using the safety caps.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the metals, we cannot file the points off of our titanium, stainless steel or 18ct gold plated stainless steel earrings. We would advise against reusing these piercing studs due to the risk of damaging the inside of your ear with the sharp point.

You should only switch into new earrings after the healing period: 6 weeks for an earlobe piercing and 12 weeks for a cartilage piercing. We would advise you to pop back into he store so that one of our team can check that the piercing has healed correctly.
